Past Projects - Social Housing
"Castlemead", Pitstone - 16 2, 3 and 4 bed houses
The Social Landlords requirement for this site was for a mix of 2, 3 & 4 bedroomed houses for both rented and shared ownership occupiers.
The housing was part of a larger development of private houses on the site of a former cement works where all decontamination works and remedials had been carried out by the main developer and major structural landscaping works implemented.
The access roads for the whole site were laid out following the principles set out in "Places, Streets & Movement" (DETR) and the housing areas followed the principles of PPG 3 in terms of density, parking and land use. The houses are therefore set in terraces of a mix of styles & sizes with parking grouped off the access ways.
Wolverton, Milton Keynes - 11 terraced bungalows and 6 1 bed flats
The site was part of the Milton Keynes College on the edge of Wolverton, now a suburb of Milton Keynes. As a brownfield site in a sustainable location it was developed to meet the aspirations of PPG 3.
The accommodation needs of the Social Landlord was for accommodation for the elderly, some units for wheelchair users and a separate block of flats for young adults with learning difficulties
All accommodation other than the flats were developed as bungalows around a central courtyard with parking grouped at its edges and these bungalows each contain 2 bedrooms opening on to small private patio gardens to the rear.
All properties were planned to fully comply with The HBF standards and the Housing Corporations "Scheme Development Standards". Moreover the 2 bungalows for wheelchair users also met the standards set out in Wheelchair Housing Design Guide.
